Anti-colonialism is, broadly, a set of historical political movements that sought to identify and dismantle colonial rule. On this page we feature scholars who speak to these historical developments as a way to understand the present and to think through various related but distinct terms – anticolonial, postcolonial, and decolonial.

"This project of thinking through structures like 'coloniality', on the one hand, it's looking backward at things that have happened and figuring out how we got to where we are. But it must also be part of a broader critical project for looking at the unequal concentration of intellectual authority in different parts of the world. That has to happen."
